As well as stained glass we also undertake work to lead lights both in situ and in our workshop in East Sussex. We can repair, re-lead and make new panels using glass of the correct period and type.
Sometimes it's possible to carry out small repairs in situ, much depends on the condition of the surrounding lead. This approach is always more cost effective and good conservation practice.
We are specialists in repairs and re-manufacture of Sussex Frames, these are flat casements and usually made of wrought iron or steel. They were an early precursor to Crittal Windows and are often found on listed and period properties. The lead lights are attached to the external side of the frame and are easily identified by the 2 metal "pegs" that are driven into the surrounding wooden frame which they are hung from.
We can supply new frames to match missing or worn out ones together with the lead lights.
Quite often these period frames have distinctive locally forged furniture, over the years these often break and go missing. We can source, supply and fit pieces to replicate what should be there. For this service the frame will have to be removed and worked on in our workshop near Battle in East Sussex
